Cathie Parmelee

A fourth-generation native of Glynn County and lifelong resident of St. Simons Island, Cathie Parmelee is a prolific storyteller who uses bold color with added texture and shine to paint the stories she experiences in her dreams.

She paints from her heart, using the skills she developed over the years through self-study and with renowned Golden Isles artists William “Bill” Hendrix, Jeanne Szabo and Mary T. Griffith. Through the years, Parmelee has developed an array of styles and personalities in her work. She paints under multiple signatures — Cathie Parmelee, Lovie, Lizzie, My Sister Sally-each with its own unique style. Parmelee’s work is in numerous private and corporate collections throughout the U.S. and her work has graced the covers of cookbooks and magazines, including the Barbara Jean’s Restaurant Cookbook and High Tide magazine.

She has been featured in Southern Living and was the featured artist for the Coastal Living Dream Home both in Sarasota, Fl. and on St. Simons Island, Ga.

Cathie is owner of Cathie Parmelee Art Studio and Gallery where she teaches the techniques and styles she has developed for over forty years.
